Daniel denies planning to kill Bajomo

GOVERNOR Olugbenga Daniel has denied any involvement in alleged plans to assassinate Alliance for Democracy(AD) gubernatorial aspirant, Engr. Olawale Bajomo, whose foray into politics has begun to create waves in the state.

ABEOKUTA - GOVERNOR Olugbenga Daniel has denied any involvement in alleged plans to assassinate Alliance for Democracy(AD) gubernatorial aspirant, Engr. Olawale Bajomo, whose foray into politics has begun to create waves in the state.

Addressing newsmen at the Executive Chambers of the Governor's office in Abeokuta Wednesday, Governor Daniel said text messages being sent around in the state that he had ordered the assassination of Engr. Bajomo were mischievous.

Governor Daniel who summoned newsmen after Exco briefing being addressed by the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Chief Mrs. Folake Marcus-Bello, for an 'emergency" at the Exco chambers said that rumours of the allegation have been on for some time but that it was getting to a ridiculous level.

He explained that only a couple of minutes before inviting the newsmen, he got another text that leaflets were being circulated in Ayetoro, hometown of Engr. Bajomo to the effect that he had ordered the closure of Olub Pure Water, a business venture owned by the AD gubernatorial aspirant.

'The rumour mongering is getting to a ridiculous level. There are text messages going round that I have ordered the assassination of one Mr. Bajomo. It is not abating because some of those sending the texts are mischievous.

'Only a few minutes ago, I got another text that leaflets are flying around in Yewa land that I have ordered the closure of Olub Pure Water owned by Engr. Wale Bajomo and that it was to frustrate the Managing Director of a small scale industry."

The Governor who asked members of his executive who have received the texts to signify by raising up their hands said 'normally we should not bother about things like this but we are living in an environment where people bandy all kinds of rumours.

'What they are doing, one of these days, nemesis will catch up with them. What they are doing is mischief and a disservice to Ogun State," he said.

No fewer than nine of the cabinet members said that they have received the texts while some of the journalists present also indicated that they have received the texts too when Governor Daniel inquired from them if they had.
