A Divisional Crime Officer (DCO) with the Lugbe police station in Abuja, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) David Abba has been arrested by Independent and Corruption Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission (ICPC) for demanding and receiving bribe from a suspect. Arrested alongside Abba was Constable Aliyu Bello.

A statement from Head Public Enlightenment Department of ICPC, Mr. Mike Sowe said investigators mounted an operation following a petition last weekend alleging that Abba had refused to grant bail to a suspect and had demanded for five thousand naira before he could be granted bail.

The statement added that it took the commission's investigators two days before they were able to offer five thousand naira marked notes in N500 denomination to Abba who received the money but was immediately arrested and brought to ICPC headquarters for interrogation.

Bello according to the statement, was arrested as an accomplice. It said both had not been charged to court because FCT courts were on annual recess.
