The Federal Capital Territory has budgetted N18 million for a mini sports festival running from September 4 to 11 in Abuja.
The Federal Capital Territory has budgetted N18 million for a mini sports festival running from September 4 to 11 in Abuja.
The FCT Sports Director Alhaji Sani Lulu told newsmen that the Council will, however, not beg the Federal Government to use the Abuja National Stadium for the event, but if given it would gladly make use of it.
However, the council has made provision to use the military cartonment in Abuja should the stadium be unavailable.
He said the Federal Government or the Ministry of Sports should actually encourage competitions to take place in the stadium in order to keep the modern facilities there in full time use. He said a large chunk of the money, which would be sourced from the private sector, would be used for acquring equipment.
He also said tha talents discovered during the games would be selected for the Gateway 2006 Sports Festival.
