A police corporal in Lagos has shot dead a constable after a disagreement over money sharing formula.
The two cops were on the counter at Elere Police Station deliberating on what to do with money that had been collected for bail, when trouble began.
Although, the police authorities said the cops were fighting over a cup of tea, Daily Sun investigations revealed that the corporal shot the constable, who had protested that he would not let his superior cheat him the way he had done the previous day.
A source told Daily Sun that as the corporal walked out and ordered for a cup of tea, the constable snatched the cup from him. Consumed with anger, the corporal drew his rifle and shot the constable dead.
Police authorities have ordered the arrest of the killer cop as the body of his slain colleague was deposited at the General Hospital for autopsy.
In his reaction, Police spokesman, Mr. Olubode Ojajuni described the shooting as accidental discharge, pointing out that a clearer picture of what happened could only come after thorough investigation.
