MEN of the State Security Service (SSS) in Delta State have arrested a Liberian national whom they accused of preaching and circulating subversive documents, that is capable of sparking religious riots in the country.

ASABA - MEN of the State Security Service (SSS) in Delta State have arrested a Liberian national whom they accused of preaching and circulating subversive documents, that is capable of sparking religious riots in the country.

Parading the suspect before newsmen at the premises of the SSS headquarters in Asaba, yesterday, the SSS Director in charge of Delta State, Mr. Adebayo Babalola said that clearance has been given from the Presidency for the deportation of the suspect.

"It (SSS) has been directed that the subject be deported forthwith as he is being handed over to the Nigeria Immigration Service for further action."

He gave the name of the 61-year-old man as Brother Konah Sheriff, who until his arrest was the General Superintendent and founder of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ Incorporated, Sapele.



The SSS Director stated that "subject (suspect) has been speaking and circulating subversive publications against the Christian faith which if left unchecked is capable of creating religious disharmony and conflagration in the state and in the country in general.

"In this regard, certain instances will suffice, subject declared that he was out to see the end of Christendom and posited that all churches in Nigeria are worshipping beast.

"Subject released a publication stating that many people are held in the bondage of Catholicism, Protestantism and Pentecostalism and that he will not relent until the people were set free.

"He tagged the Catholic Church a secret cult that disguises and masquerades as a Christian body and that he will see to the end of Sunday worship by the so-called Christians.

"Arising from subject's subversive vituperations that is premised on his overt recalcitrance to obey constituted authorities and his flagrant disdain for the secularism of the country."

Answering questions from newsmen, the suspect did not deny any of the allegations rather, he even went on to say that he had no regrets whether he is hounded or not until he accomplishes the task.
