Governor Orji Uzor Kalu of Abia State, the financier of African Champions, Enyimba, believes his team would go all the way into the final of this year's CAF Champions League competition, making it a record third consecutive appearance in the final.
The Pillar of Sports in Nigeria said, after Sunday's 2-0 win over Raja Casablanca put Enyimba back in contention for a semi final place, that the people's elephant are back on track after a slow start to the campaign.
"The slow start is over and you can see that the team is back on track. With this victory we are back in the race for a semi final place. Infact I can tell you today and you can write it down, this year's final will be between Enyimba and Al Ahly.
"Look at the records, Enyimba always play in the final with the team that gives it a tough time in the league stage. Two years ago it was Ismaili, last year it was Etoile du Sahel and this year it is Al Ahly. I believe it will be Enyimba versus Al Ahly in the final and of course you know that at the end of the day, it will be Enyimba winning the trophy for a third consecutive time.
"I have always believed in this team, even when things were not looking okay and I hope that they will continue this way henceforth", Kalu concluded.
