Okija shrine priests back at work

Fears were raised weekend that the dreaded Okija shrine, in Anambra State is back in business, barely one year after it was sacked by the police, who found scores of human heads at the site.

Fears were raised weekend that the dreaded Okija shrine, in Anambra State is back in business, barely one year after it was sacked by the police, who found scores of human heads at the site.

Alerting the nation once again is Obed Igwe, the man who exposed the evil deeds at the shrine last year.
Igwe in a statement said: "A new set of chief priests and idol worshippers have started their devilish rituals with human beings at the Ogwugwu shrine in Okija.

"These idol worshippers are mostly the kingpins that succeeded in escaping from police net in 2004, when security agents raided the shrine. These new priests and worshippers have also started dumping fresh human bodies inside the shrine and presently many corpses in various stages of decomposition litter the shrines at Okija."

Igwe observed that the present priests and worshippers have the solid backing of those presently facing trial in Ihiala court that have been granted bail "under inexplicable circumstances."
He added: "The bail granted these suspects have no doubt cast aspersions on our judicial system looking at the enormity of the charges against them, which is murder.

"Moreso, it has jeopardised further investigations into the nefarious and devilish activities of these ritualists, while I have continued to live in perpetual fear of my life for exposing their atrocities at Okija shrine. This shrine is certainly more dangerous than the one that our colonial masters destroyed in Uzakoli in the days of old."

Igwe appealed to the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and the National Judicial Commission (NJC) to probe the circumstances that led to the granting of bail to suspected ritualists and murderers, who were arrested by the police and charged to court.
