CHIEF Armourer of the Nasarawa State Police Command, Mr. Umaru Asabo, an assistant Suprintendent of Police (ASP) was in the early hours of Wednesday shot dead by unknown gunmen.
CHIEF Armourer of the Nasarawa State Police Command, Mr. Umaru Asabo, an assistant Suprintendent of Police (ASP) was in the early hours of Wednesday shot dead by unknown gunmen.
He was ambushed by his assailant near his residence in Doma Local Government council of Nasarawa State on his way to the mosque for the early morning prayers.
Our correspondent learnt that his corpse was found riddled with bullets and with his service gun found on him.
Our sources claimed that the Armourer met his untimely death two days to the time he was to present his report on missing arms and ammunition in the command.
However, different versions have continued to trail the possible cause of his death which was blown open to journalists in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital Thursday night.
One of the version said he was killed by unknown assassins, while the other version stated that he committed suicide.
Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Sirajo Hamidu Mada, ASP confirmed the death of the Armourer and said investigation was still going on to determine the possible cause of his death.
