There was nothing in her life to show that the morally imbued Adjat would lose her moral upbringing to promiscuity, drug abuse and prostitution. Although she was not a rich lady then, she could at-least boast of her desired needs. She even employed the services of a helper to assist her in the running of her business so she had no reason to depend on anybody for survival. Customers largely patronized her business office for foods, drinks and other needs.
However, her woes started when she invited two ‘closed girls' to work with her as receptionists. Her intention was that the beauty and elegant nature of the girls would boost her business as those pearls would attract customers as well as retain customership who are mainly males. The girls had a target - to catch men by hawking their body as well as dressing half nude for attention.
Two months later, Adjat joined the girls to live a loose life via invitation. Her eyes opened and her behaviour changed. According to her she started bleaching her body and painting to attract men to her side.
In the process she became an easy prey for selfish men who took advantage of her promiscuity and deceived her. "I was lured into smoking by one of my friends in the shameless business of wild and weird life.
The 40-year old woman said "I tasted all brands of drink and smoked all manners of cigarrette and tobacco and later resorted to smoking cocaine, heroine etc. that could change the brain."
In this process, she confessed, her only surviving son died from a preventable disease and she also lost her house for failing to pay her house rent promptly.
After losing her accommodation at Agege, a suburb of Lagos, she resorted to hanging with friends, both male and female. She further confessed that she hawked her body along major roads in Ikeja, Apapa, Surulere etc to make money for smoking cocaine.
She, indeed lived a free life - clubbing and going to party were her stocks in trade. However, when men gradually deserted her because of her obvious age, she became confused and disturbed.
Apparently in this fix, she decided to turn a full time prostitute. "I offered myself for sex to any willing man provided he would offer me money to smoke or provide me cocaine as alternative to money. The more men I had in a day, increases my desire for smoking."
She stated that when she was severally cheated by men who would run after having sex with her, she resorted to begging for alms. "Some men are wicked, after sleeping with me in a corner they will shout police, police and run away without settling me. I went into Ashawo to get money to smoke cocaine. Lasisi who was paraded along with other drug suspects by men of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja for alleged possession of 100.5kg of cocaine said "when men became scare, I beg for money to enable me smoke, I can do anything to smoke and unless I smoke charlie, or brown types of cocaine, my brain won't rest and no man could make love to me without buying me smoke, I am addicted, I am not a seller."
The fair lady added that she was making between N1,000.00 to N2,000.00 daily from prostitution but was sleeping under the Ikeja bridge where her male night folks, especially, security guards and drunk night crawlers had quick sex with her on a make shift bed at the side of the bridge.
She confessed that since her arrest, a month ago, she has added weight and properly taken care of by NDLEA officials. "I thank God for NDLEA, before I was arrested, I was so thin that people began to suspect my health situation but you can see how healthy and robust am looking.
She advised young ladies who would want to take up the trade to think twice. "I lost my only son, my family, friends and relations to this life style, there is no gain. Jesus Christ is the answer, immediately I live here, I will join a church.
