Lagos PDP denies Ogunlewe's suspension

The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party in Lagos State yesterday denied the alleged suspension of Works Minister, Chief Adeseye Ogunlewe, in Ikorodu Local Government, saying it was an attempt to cause distraction within the party in the state.

The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party in Lagos State yesterday denied the alleged suspension of Works Minister, Chief Adeseye Ogunlewe, in Ikorodu Local Government, saying it was an attempt to cause distraction within the party in the state.

The party in Ward C1 and C2 in Ikorodu Local government area where the Minister hails from were said to have expelled him for alleged " breach of the party's constitution as well as writing false and destructive petition against our leader, Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Bashorun, a PDP stalwart in Ikorodu."

In a swift reaction to the said suspension, the party leadership including the state chairman, Alhaji Murtala Ashorobi and the ward C1 leadership in a statement said there was no attempt or decisions to expel the Minister from the party and that those behind the purported suspension were agents of the opposition parties out to create confusion in PDP.

Alhaji Murtala Ashorobi, the state party Chairman said: "Let me state it categorically here that the purported expulsion is a huge joke. Immediately I read the shocking story in the dailies, I investigated it and discovered that it was a mischief sponsored by our opponents. So, I want PDP members in the ward, local government and at the state level to understand that our enemies are still at work and should disregard the purported suspension. Curiously, I found out that the person said to have announced the suspension is an AD apologist.
