New Kogi Commissioners Get Marching Order


Governor Ibrahim Idris of Kogi State has warned appointed commissioners not to see their appointment as an invitation to wealth making or service to godfathers.

Governor Ibrahim Idris of Kogi State has warned appointed commissioners not to see their appointment as an invitation to wealth making or service to godfathers.

Speaking at the swearing in of 14 commissioners, advisers and senior special assistants at Lokoja township stadium, Idris equally warned that he would not hesitate to show the exit door to anyone found wanting in aligning his interest with the objectives and principles of his administration.

'I expect you to develop a total sense of commitment and involvement in the running of the state affairs".

The governor also pointed out that the commissioners had been invited into the cabinet to join him in formulating policies and carrying them out for the benefit of the state.

Governor Idris added that their allegiance must be absolute so that without dissent, services expected to liberate the rural populace and youth from poverty, diseases and unemployment would be delivered.

He however urged them to learn fast, be patriotic and exhibit a high degree of integrity, quite apart from the need to comply strictly with the code conduct for public officers as stipulated in the constitution.

The governor equally asked them to give purposeful leadership and utilize effectively the manpower and other resources available within their ministries.
Meanwhile, the commissioners are Hon Abiodun Ojo-Finance, Dr, Sule Odoma- Health, Dr, Olorunfemi Stephen- Water Resources, Aduku -Work/Housing, Mr Agahiu Ayuba-Education, Aminu Yusuf M. Ministry of Agric, and Enesi Suleiman ñ Sports & Youths.

Others are Dan Kadiri- Commerce and Industry, Mrs Orebiyi Olori ñ Women Affairs, Dr, J.A.M. Agbonika- Justice, Bode Ogumola- Information, Dr Abubakar Abdulkarim ñ Budget & Planning, Mr Seidu Salihu ñ Environment and Physical Planning and Muhammed Sadiq Solid Minerals.

However, 12 Special Advisers, 4Senior Special Assistants and 18 Special Assistants were appointed along side with the Commissioner.
