Police declare Ibori's aide wanted

ONE of the Special Advisers to Governor James Ibori of Delta State was, yesterday, declared wanted by the Delta State Police Command for alleged murder, arson and other criminal offences.

WARRI - ONE of the Special Advisers to Governor James Ibori of Delta State was, yesterday, declared wanted by the Delta State Police Command for alleged murder, arson and other criminal offences.

Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Udom Ekpoudom who confirmed the development while briefing newsmen, yesterday evening, in Warri on the arrest of some armed robbers and recovery of some stolen cars said the police have been on a manhunt for the Special Adviser for some time now but he has been elusive.

His words: "We have not seen him. He has been running away, we cannot get him. He is wanted for multiple murder, arson. There are many cases against him, both past and present ones."

The Commissioner said that Governor Ibori was not against the investigation of the Special Adviser, adding that the "Governor gave me go ahead to do my work. He is a very good man. He does not obstruct criminal cases and even praises the way we take cases to court because in those days, according to him, cases do not go to court."

The suspect who is a former Local Government chairman in the state was said to have been enmeshed in so many criminal cases before his appointment by Governor Ibori but his past appears to be haunting him in the Ibori cabinet as his opponents wrote an avalanche of petition to the police against him.

Ekpoudom who paraded two robbery suspects before the press said that the war against armed robbers in the state would continue unless the robbers were prepared to change.

The two suspects, according to him, were arrested in two different operations along Emebiren Street and Third Marine Gate, Warri.
