THE leadership crisis rocking the Edo State House of Assembly, yesterday, deepened following an order by the Speaker, Mr. David Iyoha, that the six suspended members of the House involved in last month's walk-out over the adoption of the Bill reducing the tenure of elected council officials in the state be barred from entering the Assembly Complex.

BENIN CITY - THE leadership crisis rocking the Edo State House of Assembly, yesterday, deepened following an order by the Speaker, Mr. David Iyoha, that the six suspended members of the House involved in last month's walk-out over the adoption of the Bill reducing the tenure of elected council officials in the state be barred from entering the Assembly Complex.

The six suspended members - Alhaji Abass Jega, former Speaker of the House, Mr. Friday Itulah; Patrick Aguenede, Mr. Frank Okiye, Mr. Peter Ekhator and Mr. Akhere Ugbesia - were suspended following their protest against the adoption of the amendment Bill on the reduction of Tenure of Council Chairmen and Councillors in the 18 Council areas of the state.

The crisis, however, deepened yesterday following a circular issued by the Clerk of the House, Mr. Edward Agho and distributed to the affected members of the House ordering that they be barred from the complex of the House of Assembly throughout the duration of their suspension.

Vanguard gathered that the letter dated 8th of July mandated the security operatives attached to the Assembly Complex to physically stop any of the six suspended members from entering the complex.
