The Assistant Coach of the Super Eagles, Daniel Amokachi yesterday lamented that Nigerians had largely misunderstood his personality. Amokachi spoke immediately after his meeting with the Nigeria Football Association alongside his Chief, Austin Eguavoen, Ike Shorumu and other members of the Eagles coaching crew.

According to him, a lot of things had been said wrongly about him and his conduct during his football career.

"I think a lot of things have been said about me even in my playing days. I am the same person, I have not change." He decried his being seen as arrogant as gross misunderstanding of his person by those who have commented about him.

"I am not arrogant. In Nigeria when you are straightforward man, definitely you are arrogant for Nigerians.

"I am a person that stands on what I say and I say it the way it is. This is why a lot of people say I am arrogant.

"I am just a person that if you want to live with, you can live with. This is just the way I am."

The Assistant Coach described the meeting with the NFA as very perfect although the head coach is still to return to the Glass house today to submit his full program on how the Eagles would qualify for the next World Cup.

According to the Eguavoen, the head coach, the program could not be submitted yesterday due to the need for some amendment to it.

He said that he was prepared to work for the country for the development of the Nigerian Football.

The charming Coach expressed optimism that if he continues to be retained in the Super Eagles, Nigeria would sure win the 2008 and 2010 Nations Cup and World Cup.

"I am a Nigerian, I love to work in my own country. My intention was to try as much as possible, not just me, the entire crew, to win the next two games and go to the African Nations Cup.

"I cannot guarantee the Nations Cup 2006 but at least second place. Then 2008, I guarantee Nigeria Cup of Nations, 2010, if I am still here, I can guarantee Nigeria, African Cup of Nations and the World Cup."
