30 JAMB candidates to share N3m


ABOUT N3 million would be splashed on 30 candidates for their outstanding performance in last year's Universities Matriculation Examination (UME) and the Monotechnics, Polytechnics and Colleges of Education (MPCE) examinations conducted by Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

ABOUT N3 million would be splashed on 30 candidates for their outstanding performance in last year's Universities Matriculation Examination (UME) and the Monotechnics, Polytechnics and Colleges of Education (MPCE) examinations conducted by Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

The award ceremony scheduled for Tuesday, January 25 at Lagos Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja is at the instance of Promasidor Nigeria Limited, makers of Cowbell milk.

Twenty of the candidates who wrote the UME will receive N100,000 each, while 10 others who sat for the MPCE will also get the same amount.

It would be recalled that in the maiden edition held in 2003, beneficiaries of the scheme at the Polytechnic level, got N75,000.

Disclosing this to newsmen yesterday in Lagos, Head, TQA Media Consultants, Mr. Ehi Braimah, said all the beneficiaries as well as their guardians have been informed about the event.

According to him, the JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ahmed Bello Salim, among other stakeholders and educationalists, will grace the ceremony.

He disclosed that Sujo Oluwalolola Akoni who is to study Zoology at the University of Ibadan (UI) got the highest score of 315 in the UME, while Master Obinna Chukwuma Onuoha of the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra State got 259 to study mass communication
