Ben Duamlong was one of coach Onigbinde's assistants to the last World Cup in Japan.
But after working with the well respected coach, Duamlong has a different view of the man who took over from Amodu Shuaibu and Stephen Keshi after Nigeria had qualified for the World Cup.
Duamlong was in Lagos with his team, Nasarawa United, for a league match. He is technical adviser to the team that has Daniel Amokachi as the coach.
Duamlong told Brilla FM yesterday that "Onigbinde is outdated."
He was reacting to NFA's appointment of Onigbinde and Sylvanus Okpala as technical back-up team for the remaining two World Cup qualifying matches. The appointment has been misconstrued in the Nigerian media largely because of poor information management by the NFA. The two were appointed on the basis of non-existence of technical department in the FA and their brief was more on the side of the FA than the team. But critics have been harsh on this appointments, suggesting that "Onigbinde would work towards taking over the team," accusing the man of high discipline of doing the same to Keshi and Amodu before the last World Cup.
Duamlong said that Onigbinde's job in the team was still unclear, but warned that "he is outdated and should not take over the team."
