Newly-appointed assistant coach of the Super Eagles, Daniel ‘The Bull' Amokachi has given strong indications yet that former national team captain, Sunday Oliseh, could be on his way back to the national team.
Amokachi told KICK OFF: "The call for the return of Oliseh to the national team is in order. Personally, I feel the player still has a lot to give to his country."
The Super Eagles assistant coach who is a member of the technical crew of a Premier League side, Nasarawa United, said of Oliseh: "He's a player of strong vision and character who has been of great service to his country.
"I believe this country still needs his service and if the technical crew deems it fit to bring him, I will be fully in support of the move. We need our best players for the remaining two World Cup matches and I believe Oliseh still has a very important role to play in this regard. He deserves another chance."
Amokachi further declared: "It is now time for us to put the past behind us. The situation we are in now requires us to go for our best and I believe Oliseh is still among our best. He can still be useful in our remaining crucial World Cup matches."
Oliseh recently signed for Belgian club RC Genk after he was released by German Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund.
The coach, who was a star player for Nigeria to the US'94 World Cup as well as France '98, again assured that Nigeria can still make it to the Germany 2006 World Cup.
"I am positive that we will qualify for Germany and that is why we have to approach our remaining two games with all seriousness. We will work towards ensuring we win the remaining two games and hope for the best," he said.
