The National Association of Nigerian Niger Delta Natives in Diaspora has written home lauding representatives of the zone at the just concluded confab, and urging the National Assembly to pass a vote which would give the people of the South-South 50% of distributable revenue under the principle of derivation.
In a letter signed by the Secretary General, Sylvester Ukusare, the group stated that it supported a constitutional amendment which would entrench the principle of 50% derivation.
The group based in Italy urged the North which stalled the proceedings at the confab to demonstrate a greater sense of responsibility that could pave the way for a more stable Nigeria.
It warned that if the north persisted with its position, the country might run the risk of disintegration.
It lamented that the majority tribes were exhibiting double standards, noting that when they dominated sources of revenue generation they insisted on the 50% derivation principle and reaped largely from the benefits that the principle guaranteed.
