Awka - The Director of Norwegian Confederation of Business and Industry, Mr. Helge Lovdal has advised the Federal Government and the State Governments involved in the private power project not to politicize it so that the nation could generate enough power for its much needed industrialization. Lovdal said that there is a lot of entrepreneur spirit in Nigerians who only needed an enabling environment to put Nigeria in the map of an industrial giant.
Lovdal who spoke to journalists in Awka at a one day workshop on ' Promoting Growth and Competitiveness of Small Scale Industries", noted that power and other enabling environments such as access to bank loans were necessary for industries to develop. He said the same problem is faced by industrialists all over the world. 'I see a lot of entrepreneurial spirit among Nigerians. A lot of potential. But they must have the skill to manage people. They must also learn how to make good proposals, prepare it very well", Lovdal said and commended the effort of the governments to go into private power generation, but warned that they are not politicized.
Lovdal was happy for the recent G-8 meeting which gave Africa a lot of attention and hoped that their promises materialized, saying it could make Africa great.
The primary objectives of the workshop are to delineate the problems of operating SMEs and identify ways of solving them; understand the requirements and prerequisites for funding and how to satisfy them; and know about alternative sources of funding available to them, adopt the right attitude to funding and access to funds.
