Why are we disgracing ourselves? Kojo, Okafor lament on foreign coach confusion

Shortly after Kojo Williams had lamented the messy handling of the employment of a foreign coach for Nigeria, ex-international Uche Okafor called from his United States base to express concern.

"What's going on? Why are we disgracing ourselves? I don't like what is going on. It is not good for our football," Uche said in a telephone chat. He said that he was excited when the likes of Samson Siasia, Daniel Amokachi and Ike Shorumu were announced as other coaches to join hands with Austin Eguavoen to train the Eagles just for the last two matches.

And I thought that they would rest the issue of foreign coach for the remaining matches and massively support Eguavoen and co to win and later settle down to plan well if we qualify. Now, we have concentrated more on employing foreign coach than planning for the two matches. I thought that we could have gone beyond the things we read on internet about home," Okafor said while still wishing NFA and the coaches luck in the task ahead.

Former NFA chairman, Kojo Williams was sad that "it has gotten to the level where we are turning a laughing stock to the world. I just feel bad about the negative impact on the country. It is international disgrace. What happened has spread round the world and it is not good for our corporate image. It is just a shame that a coach they went to interview and announce as the new coach declined to take the same job. These problems did not start now. I hope our people know where we are getting it wrong."
