Investigators have ruled the deaths of a Tippecanoe county man and his wife were accidental. Kanu and Hasumati Thakkar were found dead on December 15 at their home on Atwood Drive.
Tippecanoe County sheriff's Lt. Steve Kohne says it appears Thakkar had worked a long shift at the Super 8 motel, at state road 43 and I-65, which he owned. When he came home, he apparently got distracted, forgot to turn off the car, and the furnace pumped fumes into the house. Kohne says you could not hear the car running from inside the house. The couple died from carbon monoxide poisoning. She was 53 and he was 54.
