Police Arrest 4 over Assassination


Police detectives haye quizzed four persons in Ibadan in connection with the assasination of Alhaji Latif Olaniyan (aka Lati Osogbo), who was killed by unknown gunmen in Ibadan 10 days ago.

Police detectives haye quizzed four persons in Ibadan in connection with the assasination of Alhaji Latif Olaniyan (aka Lati Osogbo), who was killed by unknown gunmen in Ibadan 10 days ago.

The arrest of the suspects came just as Oyo State government accused Alhaji Lamidi Adedibu of ''acts of lawlessnes which can lead to the disruption of peace in the state."

The government urged the police to call him to order in the interest of peace.
Those arrested for questioning include Waheed Akanni, Biodun Agboluaje, Ajao Olatunji, and Sarafa Ajagbe. They were said to be loyalists of Adedibu.
But, Adedibu cried foul yesterday, accusing the government of masterminding the arrest.

However, the governor's Chief of Staff, Barrister Sarafadeen Alli, told newsmen that Adedibu has last Saturday unleased terror on the people of Ibadan by using thugs to attack Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members returning from Lagos Tsunami rally.

Some party members sustained injuries from the attacks, while vehicles were burnt during the attack which caused pandemonium in the city.
According to him, 'on our way back from the rally. Alhaji Adedibu's thugs armed with dangerous weapon waylaid PDP delegates at Sapade, matcheted some people."

'Up till now, the police have not made any arrest or called Adedibu to order. The government and people of Oyo State cannot continue to fold their hands and allow Adedibu to break the law," he said.
The government therefore appealad to the police check the trend oe violence attack on 'innocent people by Adedibu and his thugs'
