We have not accepted Troussier's condition - NFA

The Nigeria Football Association has said that the condition given by Philippe Troussier to stay in Europe, while coaching the Super Eagles has not been accepted.

The Nigeria Football Association has said that the condition given by Philippe Troussier to stay in Europe, while coaching the Super Eagles has not been accepted.

Chairman of the NFA, Ibrahim Galadima, said suggestions that the coach would stay in Europe to monitor Nigerian players as a condition for picking the Eagles job has not been discussed by the board of the FA.

According to him, Troussier was yet to sign any contract with the NFA, saying that it was hasty to conclude that his proposed condition has been accepted.

'We have appointed him as the coach to handle the team, but nothing has been done beyond that. We have not signed any contract with him," he said.

Galadima said discussions would be held with the coach before he finally signs the contract papers with the NFA.

Asked if he would approve of the coach staying in Europe, Galadima said he would not be able to answer the question until the coach formerly put it forward as a condition for discharging his duty.

On when the coach would return to the country to take over the job, he said details of the contract would be worked out between the NFA and the sponsor, Globacom, before the deal would be finally sealed.

He called on Nigerians to be patient, as information on the development regarding the employment of the coach will be made available to the public as soon as the details are worked out.
