The police in Port Harcourt at the weekend railed in 15 suspects believed to be members of some of the cult groups that have turned the heat on the city of late.
The men were caught by the police and a close search showed they had marks symbolizing membership of the dreaded cults.
Our sources say a crack SOS team intercepted the men.
We put a call through to the Commander of the outfit, Supo Karma who confirmed the arrest of the suspects.
Karma said he could not confirm whose followers those arrested are or how many suspects are being held at the moment.
Unknown to cultists, the police which has been doing what it can to contain the violence had clinically mapped out strategies to neutralize them.
From the picture that is emerging, the police knew where to look and when they struck, the alleged cultists had no chance of escape.
Karma warned that any one who thought he could brandish a gun and knife should think again, saying the police would not tolerate any attempt to assault the peace.
Obviously angry, Karma said the boys had agreed to a peace deal and wondered why it was, they are still disturbing the people of the State.
Said he, "Any one who thinks it's the right thing to brandish cutlasses and guns should try."
Asked what he was doing to ensure that the state does not degenerate into a mafia state, Karma said law enforcement personnel were now on alert to ensure that nobody acts as if he or she is above the law.
