The union of Niger Delta Youth Council (UNDYC) has commended the steadfastness of the South-South delegates on their mandate at the National Political Reform Conference.
It has also commended the singular efforts of the former Director of OMPADEC, Chief A.K. Horsefall for his contributions towards ensuring that the demands of the South-South delegates comes to fruition.
A statement signed by the President of the union, Mr. John Nte Israel and National Executive of the six states of the union of Niger Delta Youths, said they are solidly behind the South-South delegates on their demands for at least 25% derivation.
The statement said despite efforts by some detractors to blackmail some members of the constitutional conference from the South-South, they still hold firm their mandate.
The union vehemently condemned a publication in one of the national dailies, written by one Ike Okonta which it described as a calculated attempt to insult, and blackmail, Chief A.K. Horsefall.
"It's deliberate attempt to spoil the good and reputable image of this noble gentleman and custodian of the people's traditional culture of Kalabari land, Chief Albert Horsefall, who has served the nation on several capacities," it stressed.
It stated that "enough is enough, the people of Niger Delta will never play a second fiddle in the country and called on all lovers of peace, especially people of the South-South that we can no longer suffer in silence again".
"We, the union of Niger Delta shall not and will not tolerate this nonsense from Ike Okonta and his cohorts again, for we have been following the operational activities of Chief A.K. Horsefall, for the past 10 years as being honest, transparent and man of integrity, coupled with the present assignment at the National Conference.
The union assured Chief Horsefall that it will solidly be behind him and ready to ensure that his dreams for the Niger Delta come true.
