A music director in the country, Mr. Papa Stephen Kay gave the warning in an interview with newsmen in Port Harcourt, saying that there is need for them to be cautioned so as to turn a new leaf.

Mr. Kay disclosed that piracy business has become a natural phenomenon in the country, but said that marketers have tried to minimize it in the country.
"Those doing this business do not have good offices and equipment to do the jobs. I see them as evil people into the game. There is need for musicians to go into the market, search and supervise to ensure that people are selling the original tapes," he said.

The music director who has directed Old Skoll, you are under control, Abu Ekpere Volume 2 aka Dike amongst others said that music directors face a lot of difficulties especially when they are dealing with a dormant musicians.

On the music Directors' Guide of Nigeria (MDGN), Mr. Kay made it clear that the body has not be recognized nation-wide but optimistic that in no distant time, it would be recognized all over the country and it would be inaugurated.

The director who has also featured in most of the Nigerian films advised up-coming artists to work hard as God would remember them.

According to him, "they should not relent because it is a rotational thing and they should not fold their hands and expect miracles to happen to them. Let them always make sure that their music is always in the market," he disclosed.

He warned music directors to always buy the idea of their musicians for a sound and perfect jobs because according to him, musicians know what they want.

Mr. Stephen Kay urged the federal government to assist musicians financially for them to excel in their area of specialization, stressing that Nigerians have a lot of talents but due to financial handicap they go in a wrong way.

"Authority should set up an avenue where musicians can take loan from the government in order to wax stronger. And government should recognize our artists so that they will be in a better position to put smiles on the faces of Nigeria," he added.
