The stand taken by delegates from the South-South geo-political zone of the country at the National Political Reform Conference (NPRC) in Abuja has been lauded by one of the zone's own (delegate) to the conference, HRM, King Alfred Diete-Spiff, a paramount ruler in Bayelsa State.
King Diete-Spiff told Telegraph that while the conference is now dotting the i's and crossing the t's preparatory to submitting its report to the president, the South-South still feels aggrieved and saddened by poor procedural display.
The Royal Father, however, believes that if the final report is not doctored as was the case in 1995 when the 13% derivation was awarded, the document might still represent the contributions of the various segments of the conference.
"Now that we are no longer present we don't know what might be removed and what might be added", he said. "Anyway, we have done our best and we are convinced that we have taken the right path".
