Little Miss Esther Ifeanunaya who spoke to our man Gabriel Ogbologwung and Paul Alozie, on hand to cover the unfolding event for Radio Rivers, said that she continued to mutter, "It is a lie. A girl about 10 years old kidnaped by ritualists for use to make money has miraculously escaped death.
Little Miss Esther Ifeanunaya who spoke to our man Gabriel Ogbologwung and Paul Alozie, on hand to cover the unfolding event for Radio Rivers, said that she continued to mutter, "It is a lie. The blood of Jesus. Holy Ghost Fire!" even as her captor made away with her from her home.
Initial attempts to track her down at her parent's residence, No. 87 Akwuzi Street in the Diobu area of Port Harcourt failed.
But she was trailed to the Christ Ascension Church, Mile III Diobu, with her family who had gone to thank God for his mercies.
Little Miss Onuora is a primary four pupil of Bright Future Nursery and Primary School at Abba Street in Diobu.
The father, Kenneth Onuora is a butcher and the mother Christiana Onuora is a trader, who incidentally on the fateful day had gone to church when an assailant laid in wait to kidnap her daughter for sacrifice to the gods who give money to those who desire it badly in exchange for blood.
Although Mr. Onuora confirmed the incident, Esther who spoke fluent English recalled that a man under the guise of a request by her mother had asked her to accompany him to the market to collect unions.
Somehow, little Esther did what most girls her age would not do. She turned down the offer, opting rather to inform her aunty first.
The Port Harcourt Telegraph gathered the man did not like her defiant spirit. He pulled out a knife and threatened he would slaughter her with the deadly implement.
Esther panicked.
Thus began a long walk through the streets of Uloabuchi, Afikpo, Abba, Ogwa, Nanka, Emenike, Akokwa into Egede behind a church into Okereke Street.
Behind the church, she was tied while the assailant went off in search of those who either connived with him or commissioned him.
Esther had been left tied as the rain which fell on that day descended.
But fate smiled on her when a woman residing nearby heard her cries and raised an alarm which led to her rescue.
It would be the third time ritualists would target and the third time her strong faith in family values and God would save her.
Esther's brother also narrated how sometime ago they rebuffed the attempt of some men to offer her a lift to school which was stone throw away.
At another time, she had been offered N100.00 to purchase biscuit allegedly from the mom.
On that occasion, little Estther who appears to have good grooming rejected the offer "because my mother gave me enough indomie in my food flask".
However, Mr and Mrs Onuora are thankful to God.
"Our hands are clean", they told this publication, "and we serve the living God".
Deacon Isaac Okpulor who spoke to the Telegraph disclosed that it had been foretold by God and the church that something terrible would happen.
He hinted that the body of Christ prayed against it, adding "The devil will always fail."
