Diamond Bank Plc yesterday unveiled a new savings account product known as DiamondXpress Account, which is designed to cater for the low income earners across the country.
Diamond Bank Plc yesterday unveiled a new savings account product known as DiamondXpress Account, which is designed to cater for the low income earners across the country.
Executive Director, Personal Banking Mr. Uzoma Dozie said the idea behind the account was the need to bring the bank's premium banking closer to all strata of the society.
"The rational behind the development of the account is to decongest the banking halls and make banking more convenient and flexible to the ordinary person. The bank is poised to bring its premium banking closer to all strata of the society", he said.
The unique feature of DiamondXpress is that subscribers of the account are serviced mainly from Automated Teller Machine. This means that the subscriber can transact basic banking businesses from any ATM location 24 hours daily.
"With a debit card, DiamondXpress subscribers are serviced through Diamond Bank's 21 ATM locations and well over 60 other ATM locations on the ATM Consortium (ATMC) spread across major cities and towns in Nigeria.
"The number of service points is expected to grow considerably enabling DiamondXpress customers to also access their accounts from the ATMs of other Interswitch member banks", Dovie stated.
He explained that DiamondXpress Account is essentially made for people who ordinarily are unable to operate a normal savings account due to certain perceived documentation hurdles.
According to him, the procedures for opening the account is very flexible. With an opening balance of N2,000 and two passport photograph, one automatically qualifies for the DiamondXpress Savings Account.
Besides unhindred access to their accounts, he said that customers can obtain a wide array of services through DiamondXpress Account windows which include; balance enquiry, account-to-account transfers and third party payments on the ATM.
He added that the account also give customers access to the bank's internet banking and tele banking facilities in order to ensure greater control and monitoring of customers' account.
Diamond Bank, he noted, will be introducing the product through a uniue package of road shows featuring major Nigerian artist including musicians and comedians. The road shows are billed for major cities like Lagos, Enugu, Port Harcourt and Abuja.
