The police in Warri, Delta State have arrested notorious dare-devil armed robbery kingpin, Solomon Aigbogun Enakhimion whose gang has been terrorizing the oil city for over two years.

The 28 year old man had been on the wanted list of the police but has always managed to elude the law even as other arrested robbers have continued to name him as their leader and master strategist.

The Delta State Police Commissioner Mr. Udom Ekpoudom who paraded Enakhimion and six other robbers said it was Enakhimion's gang that abducted and killed a police inspector who had been on the trail of the gang in Effurun.

According to the Ekpoudom, the late Detective Inspector was abducted while investigating the activities of the gang along Ugbomro Road and taken to the bridge linking the Delta Steel Company and Warri Port Expressway at Otokutu where he was brutally dismembered and his body thrown into the Warri River.Also arrested was Frederick Ikaka, a 21 year old man following a tip-off while attempting to rob a lady.

Ikaka who was on a solo mission when he was arrested later mentioned some of his gang members, four of whom were later arrested at various points in the oil city.

The Police chief disclosed that upon interrogation, the arrested robbers later confessed to a number of robberies in Warri and environs including the attack on and killing of the first Urhobo female medical doctor, Dr. Scott- Emuakpor who was buried last weekend.

In another incident, the police have arrested Samson George, member of a five-man gang after a hot pursuit by cops from Warri to Sapele.The gang had dispossessed Mr. Okiti Abednego, a taxi driver of his Nissan Bluebird car, with registration No. DT3272E, at about 6.30 a.m at Effurun.

The five men had pretended to be passengers and asked to be taken to Sapele by the driver, but as soon as they boarded the vehicle, they asked the driver to get down at gun point.

However, Mr. Okiti Abednego raised an alarm which drew the attention of a near by police patrol team.

The gang then engaged the police in a gun battle before attempting to escape through the Warri/Benin highway but the vehicle ran into bush path where they abandoned it and ran into the bush.However, Samson George was unlucky as he was apprehended while his colleagues escaped.

Speaking to newsmen at EKpan Police Station, the Commissioner of police, Mr. Udom Ekpoudon said that the police would not relent in the pursuit of criminals.

He said that eleven gun including two dummy guns made with wood and wrapped with rubber were recovered in the various operations.Also, recovered were 40 cartridges, two knives and three kilogrammes of weeds suspected to be Indian herm.
