Jigawa State Government has awarded a contract for the construction of two roads at the cost of over N1billion to China Geo-Construction Company (CGC) Nigeria Ltd., as part of its efforts to boost socio-economic activities as well as reduce transportation problems bedeviling the people of the area.
DUTSE - Jigawa State Government has awarded a contract for the construction of two roads at the cost of over N1billion to China Geo-Construction Company (CGC) Nigeria Ltd., as part of its efforts to boost socio-economic activities as well as reduce transportation problems bedeviling the people of the area.
State Commissioner for Engineering & Infrastructure, Alhaji Aminu Sidi Yalleman stated this while signing the contract agreement between the state government and the company at a ceremony held in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital. He said the construction of the roads include Unguwar Mani-Korayal-Gwiwa, and Roni-Gwiwa town at the cost of N697,670,358.09 and N312,791,371.99 respectively.
According to Alhaji Aminu Yaleman the project is expected to be completed by the firm within a period of twelve months, and when completed, over 30 communities in the two local government areas will benefit from the projects. "The state government is fully committed to road constructions; it also viewed the provision of communication to boost the socio-economic activities as major priority."
Yalleman added that no government in the past had provided infrastructural development especially road network better than the Turaki administration, stressing that both federal, state and township roads were constructed across the state by the state government in the last six years and these has improved the socio-economic activities as well as reduce transportation difficulties being faced by some communities in the state.
He assured that before the expiry of the Turaki's tenure, all nooks and crannies of the state will be linked with road network throughout the state for local and international economic activities.
Alhaji Yalleman appealed to the contractor to justify the confidence reposed in the firm towards completing the work within stipulated time as contained in the contract agreement.
Speaking, the Deputy Managing Director of the company, Mr. Peng applauded the effort of the state government in the provision of roads to all the nooks and crannies across the state. He pledged to complete the work within stipulated time as signed in the contract agreement and assured the state government of his company's commitment to execute a good and durable job for the betterment of the people of the state.
