IIgbo-Abuan told to engage in business ventures


Members of IIgbo-Abuan in Abual/Odual Local Government Area of Rivers State have been told to engage themselves in profitable business ventures that would sustain their means of livelihood.

Barrister Royal Nengim who made the call while speaking as chairman to mark Engr. Walaku-IIgbo Abuan business forum at Okana in Abuna central, charged members of IIgbo-Abuna to utilize their God-given abilities as professionals in different fields of human endeavours in making Abua a centre for investment.

In his remarks the President of IIgbo-Abuan. Engr. I Walaku, disclosed that IIgbo-Abuan has mapped out strategies that would engender brotherly love, mutual understanding and the development of Abualand.

Engr. Walaku, however, appealed to the people of the area to organize a stakeholder's forum where issues that bordered on lives of the people could be properly handled in a free and fair atmosphere.

According to the president, time has come for the IIgbo-Abuan to be alive to their responsibilities, adding that IIgbo-Abuan is a veritable instrument for the renewed socio-cultural evolution of the Abua speaking tribe.

While presenting a paper titled" personal financial planning and investment opportunities in Nigeria, Mr. Waris U. K. Ali, however, called on the members of IIgbo-Abuan to be prudent in the management of available resources.

Mr. Ali acknowledged that the cardinal objectives of IIgbo- Abuan was aimed at developing its members and the Abua community as a whole, pointing out that the seminar on personal financial planning and investment opportunities has come at a very crucial moment in the lives of many members.

The seminar, he said, was to turn around the fortune of the people in the area and make them to be self-reliance through the setting up of small/medium scale business enterprises that would better their lots.

According to the resource person, Abua is blessed with abundant mineral resources that would attract potential investors and urged the people in the area to blend their minds and rethink of ways to move forward by organizing similar seminars/workshop aimed at emancipating them from the present economic strangulation.
