The people of Ohoabu Ndoki in Ukanafun have said they will totally boycott the 2005 National population census.

The decision to shun the exercise is not unconnected with the change of their community name. Many in the area, according to what we have found resent the attachment of Ndoki to their community name.

Exchanging views with newsmen at Ikot Akpan Nkuk, the headquarters of Ukanafun local government area, the head of council, Obong Okon Uwah said that following the grievance of the people, a case has been filed in the high court at Ukanafun local government area.

He explained that in 1985, in the former cross River state the Ohaobu people in Ukanafun were known as Ikot Inyang Udo 11 but not Ohaobu Ndoki.
The head of council also explained that another vexing dimension to the entire thing emanated from the fact that Ndoki is a community in Abia state.

Tracing the advent of the new name, Uwah said the problem broke out when some individual started to attach Ndoki to Ohaobu in pursuit of their selfish designs.

Obong Uwah advised the community not to boycott the nation population census for their own good so that it help them for speedy development in the area.

Sokari doesn’t mean joy. Joy is Biobela. Go to the village and ask the meaning of the name.
