The war cry was led by the chairperson of POWA, Mrs. Henrietta Anegbode during a visit to the Oyo State police command.
While revealing that POWA have series of orientation programmes for the wives of the police officers on how they could build a happy home and how to respect their husbands, Anegbode emphasised that the women should encourage their husbands and show them reasons why they should be in the vanguard of those fighting corruption in their job.
The Minister for Women Affairs, Mrs. Obong Akpan, who was one of the speakers at the event, spoke on domestic violence in homes. Speaking of how best to avoid violence in homes, she said: 'We should watch ' the type of upbringing we give to our children and especially the type of moral we instill into them so that they don't one day become victims of sexual harassment."
Akpan insisted that more love and care should be in the home because such emotions could determine the future of the children.
Miss Funmilayo Oyelami, who spoke on HIV/AIDS said it was a dangerous virus that was quickly spreading mainly through sexual intercourse, blood transfusion, sharp or unsterilised needles/syringes and barber clippers.
She added: 'The HIV/AIDS virus once contracted reduces the body's ability to fight against other incoming disease and the body's natural immunity trait is undermined."
Oyelami said the disease could be prevented and controlled by avoiding promiscuous sexual intercourse, avoiding delay in the treatment of other sexually transmitted disease, adequate education on various ways sthrough which HIV/AIDS can be contracted. But she insisted that the best preventive measure was to abstain from sexual affairs.
POWA ended the day by advising the police officers to serve and protect with integrity and also presented various gift items to the less privileged.
