Governor Diepreye Alamieyeseigha has made a passionate plea for work on the Brass Liquified Gas project to take-off in earnest.

Governor Diepreye Alamieyeseigha has made a passionate plea for work on the Brass Liquified Gas project to take-off in earnest.

Alamieyeseigha who spoke at the Bayelsa Government House while receiving a brief from the Managing Director of the LNG project, Mr. Hutchison Martin said the project would serve as an economic catalyst that would be beneficial to the country and the people of the state.

But he cautioned that if the project would succeed, the management of the gas plant should see the government and people of the state as stakeholders.
Chief Alamieyeseigha declared, "Our people must be involved in the project. We must be seen as stakeholders in the project. If the best industrial standards in terms of technology are applied and things are done professionally, we shall not have any problems."

The Managing Director, Mr. Martin had told the governor in his brief that serious progress is being made.

He revealed that soil tests were being carried out and samples to facilitate the construction of the project taken.
Martin announced that the final investment decision (FID) would be made by the end of next year.

The managing director also disclosed that some of the pre-investment activities that would engage the attention of the management were the Nigerianisation and succession plans, as well as the training of people from the area in preparation for the construction phase.
