The Reggea general and the Rivers State chapter chairman of the performing Musicians Employers Association of Nigeria (PMAN), Arthur Pepple (Jnr.) was last Friday arrested by members of the state criminal investigation department over allegation of threat to kill highlife maestro, Prince David Bull.
Arthur Pepple (Jnr.) was arrested at exactly 0915 hours at the state secretariat office of the union along Hospital Road. Information reaching this publication has it that the arrest must have been at the behest of the Rivers State Commissioner of Police a petition written by Prince David Bull.
In a chat with Arthur, he expressed surprise over the allegation, explaining that he has no personal problem whatsoever with Prince David Bull, pointing out that he has not even seen him in any of the PMAN's meetings, since his inception as the chairman in the state chapter. "I have not had a one-on-one encounter with David Bull, so how can I threaten him?" he equipped.
Telegraph was able to reach Prince David Bull and in a telephone chat at exactly 12:15 hours, he confirmed making the report just to make sure that Arthur learns how to guard his utterances.
Asked if he heard Arthur make the threat, he replied that he learnt of it from fellow musicians who claimed that Arthur made the pronouncement before
everyone in one of the PMAN's meetings. The curtain raiser here is, is the allegation spurious or merely a means of stressing a point of inequality?
