IN accordance with the terms of reference given to the Judicial Commission of Inquiry looking into the killing of six persons by the Police in Abuja, the identities of the deceased were yesterday clarified as their relations appeared before the Commission.
ABUJA - IN accordance with the terms of reference given to the Judicial Commission of Inquiry looking into the killing of six persons by the Police in Abuja, the identities of the deceased were yesterday clarified as their relations appeared before the Commission.
Also identified was the owner of the 406 Peugeot car used by the deceased, which was said belonged to Hon. Abubakar Abdullahi from Adamawa State House of Assembly.
The relations of the six persons, Ifeanyi Ozor, Anthony Nwokike, Ekene Isaac, Paulinus Ogbonna, Chinedu Meniru and Augustina Arebun, all identified the photographs of the deceased alleged to have been taken after they were shot.
Testifying, Mr. Raphael Elvis Ozor, younger brother to Ifeanyi told the Commission that the 406 Peugeot, which the Police alleged, was stolen belonged to a honourable member House of Assembly, Adamawa State, Abubakar Abdullahi.
According to him, Hon. Abdullahi gave the car to Ifeanyi on the 6th of June, 2005 to repair and deposited part payment of N150, 000 and an agreement signed between them.
His words: "On the 6th of June 2005, Hon. Abubakar Abdullahi brought the 406 to our shop which he asked my brother to repair. The items to be bought were listed and cost. He deposited a part payment of N150,000 with the balance of N87,000 left and I issued him a receipt and we also entered into an agreement which was signed by him".
He said the Honourable was the one who told Ifeanyi to remove the official plate number for security reasons and to avoid harassment from police while the plate number used on the vehicle on the day of the incident was that of a scrap car.
He also said that out of that N150,000, N80,000 was given to him by Ifeanyi to keep while the remaining N70,000 was kept by Ifeanyi adding that the money was still with him (Ifeanyi) on the day of the incidence.
Raphael who demanded that the Federal government sponsor the burial and be present at the burial also hinted that Ifeanyi live at the Gimbiya Street, Area 11 where he met his untimely death and asked that the Close leading to his residence be named after him.
