A MAN (names withheld) who allegedly killed two of his children aged 17 and 18 months respectively, is in police net in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Speculation is rife that the suspect is a ritual killer.

As the incident occurred and barely two hours to New Year's Day, another tragedy struck along the Warri-Port Harcourt road when two vehicles collided with 16 persons, including a couple, their two children and two grandchildren, were feared killed on December 31.

Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Moses Anegbode told newsmen in Ibadan, the state capital, weekend, that the father who killed his two children allegedly committed the offence on December 29, last year.

He said the suspect killed his children, Segun Lawal (17) and Fatiat Lawal (18 months) at Oke-Ola, Moniya area of Ibadan.

According to the police boss, the suspect secretly buried the victims while he took his other child, Sikiru to his friend.

Mr. Anegbode said the police knew about the crime when Sikiru told some of his friends about the killing of his two other siblings by their father.

He was said to have been persuaded to report the incident to the police, following which the police immediately arrested him.

Anegbode, who spoke on other matters, said his men arrested 291 robbery suspects, recovered 105,703 live ammunitions and 23 vehicles in 2004.

The auto crash along Warri-Port Harcourt road which occurred at about 10.00p.m., involved a commercial bus belonging to a Warri-based transport company (names withheld) and a private car.

One of the only two survivors, Mr. Stanley Ofe, said the bus which was coming from Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, lost a tyre and somersaulted three times when the on-coming private car, a Toyota Carina II, ran into it.

The entire occupants of the car which was carrying the family of six, reportedly died on the spot.

Ofe, whose legs were broken in the accident, said of the 12 occupants of the bus only himself and the driver survived the crash.

He spoke to Daily Champion from his sick bed at a private hospital in Warri, Delta State.

According to him, the accident occurred at a point near Ahoada, Rivers State.

He said all the victims were transferred to the Ahoada General Hospital where the family and 10 passengers of the bus were confirmed dead.
