Armed robbers had a field day at the Bonny town last Thursday, when they simultaneously struck at the All States Trust Bank and two passenger boats.
Information reaching Telegraph has it that the robbers numbering six operated at the bank for more than twenty five minutes with spontaneous gunfire. While three were taken casualties four others wounded.
The robbers which included two women raided the bank and two of the deaths were staff of the bank. The men of the underworld also attacked two passenger boats plying the Port Harcourt - Bonny route. The passengers we learnt were robbed of their valuable items including handsets.
Telegraph reliably gathered that the robbers had targeted the Bonny local government council on receiving information that fund was being sent across to the area. However on discovering that the information was false the robbers decided to strike at the bank and on escaping left sum of N10m scattered in the premises.
Of late, there have been several bank robberies in the island kingdom that hosts a number of blue chip companies, including oil and gas installations.
