I want to step into my brother's shoes~Chukwuemeka

Younger brother to the late Senator Amah Chibuzor Iwuagwu who represented Owerri Senatorial zone until his death a few weeks ago, Chukwuemeka Iwuagwu says he is desirous of stepping into his late brother's abandoned shoes as distinguished Senator representing Owerri Senatorial district.

Chukwuemeka who read information science at the Abia State University, Uturu said his people asked him to step in without wasting time, in order to complete the good job started by his late brother. And that he is confident that he will make it since he is going to make use of his brother's already made existing political structures which he himself contributed immensely in establishing. "Some how those structures belong to me", he said. He added that he had made some necessary consultations with the king makers of the zone and they had asked him to come out.

The Senatorial hopeful assured the people of Owerri Senatorial zone that his focus would be on their infrastructural and human development. "The basic things of life, such as water, electricity, social security, good roads etc. the basic things that human beings need. In short, I am going there for effective representation. I will go for what my people need. Whatever they say they need, I will go for it".

Chukwuemeka who is also a consultant in cultural matters "one who cares for people and promotes culture", as he put it, also gave his assurance that he would not be deviating from what his brother stood for or was known for (his brother was an economist and served in economic and financial bodies/committees).

He finally advised Owerri people to shun those who kept telling them that the Senate was meant for the old people, re-informing them that 35 years was the stipulated age for such position which he merited. He seized the opportunity to call on the youths to equally make maximum use of this opportunity to forge ahead.

It would be recalled that a committee set up recently to look into finding a suitable replacement for the position vacated by the late Senator narrowed it down to Mbaitoli and Ikeduru local government areas, the two areas known as "Mbaike" in Imo political circles and from where the late Senator hailed. This position makes Chukwuemeka Iwuagwu, Hon. Bethel Amadi who represents the two local government areas at the House of Representatives, former Senate president, Chief Evan Enwerem have an edge as against Mrs. Kema Chikwe, Chief Greg Egu, Dr. Alex Obi and Hon. Emeka Ihedioha of the House of Representatives.
