The South East delegates at the National Conference have resolved that the next President of Nigeria should come from the zone.
Thirty states including five from the zone yesterday adopted the Conference's recommendation that the presidency should move to the North in 2007.
Addressing a news conference yesterday in Abuja, the leader of South East delegate, Prof Joe Irukwu, said that the zone had ``all it takes to produce the next president of the country''.
He expressed the willingness of the zone to work together with their South South in supporting an ideal person for the exalted position.
Irukwu said that although the zone had gained a lot from the Conference, there was no decision that affected the zone.
He said that the recommendation of the Conference to zone the presidency to the North during the next general election had nothing to do with the Igbo people's aspiration to produce the next president of Nigeria.
Irukwu accompanied by other delegates from the zone, added that every decision of the Conference must be based on equity, fair play and justice.
He said that the zone would soon come up with their position at the end of the Conference, saying they believed in principle of social justice.
