FG, prosecute Apo traders' killers

I read with utter disgust the confession of a policeman concerning how some policemen allegedly murdered Ekene Issac, the last of the six Apo Village traders who were killed on June 8.

I read with utter disgust the confession of a policeman concerning how some policemen allegedly murdered Ekene Issac, the last of the six Apo Village traders who were killed on June 8.

In civilized world, policemen are supposed to protect law-abiding members of the society from predators; but sad to say, in Nigeria, the Police, themselves, have become the predators against the very people who pay taxes from which Police salaries are paid!

It is even more disheartening that when Police murder innocent citizens, to cover their tracks, they set up their dead victims as common criminals, and, no matter what the victims' relations and friends might have to say, the Police always have the last say.

Only that the Press, especially, have refused to allow the Police get away with the latest atrocity, which the Police tried desperately to cover, but without success.

Those policemen that murdered the Apo traders are as heartless as satan, and they are the sort that dent the Police image in Nigeria.

Nigerians hope that those found guilty will be made to face the full wrath of the law. The Police authorities, nay the Federal Government should not just sack them, or jail them.

Once found guilty of the first-degree murder that their crime is, they should also get the maximum penalty.
