Works Minister promises more roads

Works Minister, Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe has reiterated the resolve of this administration to provide more dividends of democracy through good roads to all Nigerians between now and year 2007.

Works Minister, Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe has reiterated the resolve of this administration to provide more dividends of democracy through good roads to all Nigerians between now and year 2007. He assured that the Federal Government was mindful of the popular mandate given President Obasanjo by the Nigerian people in 2003, and would therefore spare no effort to render qualitative and selfless service.

He made the remarks at the signing ceremony for the construction of six bridges in Kebbi State linking Argungu with Bwi in Niger Republic border on Thursday July 7, 2005 in his Mabushi Office, Abuja.
He stated that four Local Government areas in Argungu Emirate of Kebbi State that have for years put up with being cut off from the rest of the State can now heave a sigh of relieve as the contract for the bridging the rivers that separate them from the rest of the State has now been signed.
The contract for the six bridges amounts to N3.75 billion.

Senator Ogunlewe, who signed on behalf of the Federal Government, charged Messrs. Dantata and Sawoe, the contractors handling the project to complete the project on schedule, especially as about 60% of the contract sum was paid ab initio. The bridges will effectively connect the road from Argungu to Bwi in Niger Republic, which though is in reasonably good condition, is currently inaccessible due to the absence of the bridges.
