Prince John Okorosa, President of Great Squad I of ASALGA, has identified greed on the part of chiefs and elites of Buguma City as the main problem of the community, alleging that the wealthy and opportune ones do not spread chances of employment and empowerment to the youths of the area.

He maintained that the subjects of the chiefs and community leaders so denied tend to resort to other means of livelihood in the absence of industries that could engage them usefully, thus the incidents of violence which keep recurring in the area.

To curb this unhealthy trend, Prince Okorosa has tasked the chairman of Asari-Toru local government area (ASALGA), Hon. Aroloyeteim I. Brown, JP to do more in the area of empowerment for youths so as to have lasting peace in the council.

He commended the ASALGA boss for several development initiatives, especially the building of the N25 million ultra-modern motor-park, which was the major source of the Buguma violence, to gainfully accommodate some youths, noting how so many people look up to the council administration and initiatives for daily survival in the area.

Okorosa spoke with newsmen in the wake of the award on Hon. Brown as the "Best Chairman of the year 2005 out of 23 LGAs of Rivers State" by the Young Adult Society of Our Saviour's African Church Cathedral (OSACC), Buguma on Sunday, June 26, 2005.

In the certificate of honour signed by Mr. Otonye Braide (President), Mrs. Ibimina G. M. Benibo (Secretary General), Elder Trustee Adaye S. Omiete (Cathedral People Warden); and the Rt. Rev D. B. Kaladokubo (JP), the Lord Bishop of Rivers Diocese, the Young Adult Society cited the peace initiatives and sustainable development drives of the chairman as the platform for the recognition.

Responding, Hon. Brown noted that each commendation for a job well-done is a challenge to do more and pledged to work harder for integrative peace in the area, adding that the youths form a central part of his development agenda and so he would continue to explore ways of empowering them for the overall growth and peace of ASALGA.
