Thirty five students believed to be cultists and members of Black Axe secret society have been arrested by the police in Delta State. The suspects made up of 12 female students and 23 males are presently being interrogated at the Police headquarters Asaba after their arrest at Obinomba near Obiaruku where they had held a secret cult meeting.
They were arrested by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) as they wee going back to their school after the clandestine meeting.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Olabisi Okuwobi ASP who confirmed the arrest to Saturday Sun in an interview said the suspects were in two Hiace commuter buses.
ASP Okuwobi gave the numbers of the buses as Delta XB 597 ASB and XB 554 AGB, stating that the buses had been impounded with secret cult insignia, three key holders with Black Axe secret society symbol, one white handkerchief with Boggie 2005 inscription and one CD plate of Black Axe face, recovered when the bases were searched.
The PRRO explained that those arrested were students of the College of Education, Agbor, Federal Polytechnic, Auchi and Federal Polytechnic, Oko.
She said the suspects would appear in court at the end of investigations.
