Adewusi, widely known as ‘Tantolorun' (who's like God?) revealed how honey has added ‘sweetness' to his life.
Beginning
I was born 50 years ago in Ibadan. I was raised and educated in the ancient town. I came down to Lagos in 1980 after the completion of my secondary education. I was employed by the Ministry of Communications. My interest was in the arts and it came to fullness while in Lagos. I began to work as a freelance journalist writing stories on gospel groups like ‘Ayewa' and ‘Imole Ayo' for different newspapers. I also ran a programme on Radio Lagos, Ikeja. The fact was that I loved the arts and would have loved to work full time in the media.
Herbalism
I had been exposed to herbalism right from childhood. Almost everybody from Agberi where I hail from knows a little about the medicinal properties of herbs. I became more knowledgeable on the ancient art when some hunters and farmers asked me to help document the uses of roots and leaves. When I showed interest in having copies of my own, these elders granted me the privilege. My father who equally had a fair knowledge of it did not go much into herbalism because he was a staunch Christian. When I left the civil service, I went into the promotion of herbalists and spiritualists. Thus my knowledge was further enhanced. I stumbled on the secret of honey.
Research
I had read a book titled, ‘Honey can make you rich' written by a Westerner. I wondered how the common honey could make one rich. I discovered through research that this naturally occurring sweetening agent if added to herbs could heal many diseases. The work took me to many herbalists and spiritualists. I gathered a rich collection of herbal preparations with honey as the basic ingredient. I also burrowed into the holy books, the Bible and the Quran and found out that God Almighty actually gave honey to mankind for healing and health purposes. Thus I make sure that I pray and ask Him to release His power into honey preparations I give to people.
Fame and wealth
There is no doubt about it that my present vocation is my real calling. Less than a year after I started, I built a house and bought my first car, a Lada Jeep. Today I am not only well known as Baba Oloyin, I am also comfortable, when God revealed the secret of honey to me, he added honey to my life.
Honey therapy
I have the knowledge to cure over 100 ailments but I have documented only 50 of them in my books - three pamphlets which I have since compiled into one book titled, '50 Ways of Using Honey.' I sell natural honey and am also consulted for the treatment and prevention of different ailments. Let me tell you, honey is so good, if you lick just a little in the morning, you would testify to the goodness of God by the end of the day.
