Nigeria will take part in this year'sbiennial X1 FINA World championships holding from July 17-31 in Montreal, Canada, Dans Adokiye, secretary of the Nigeria Swimming Federation (NSF), said here Tuesday.
LAGOS, July 5 (Xinhuanet) -- Nigeria will take part in this year'sbiennial X1 FINA World championships holding from July 17-31 in Montreal, Canada, Dans Adokiye, secretary of the Nigeria Swimming Federation (NSF), said here Tuesday.
At a news briefing in Nigeria's commercial capital Lagos, Adokiye said the four swimmers for the championships "are Eric Williams, Sunday Ayejo, who will take part in male events while the females are Obia Inyengiyikabo and Blessing Forcados."
He saud Williams and Ayejo would compete in the 50m and 100m breaststroke and butterfly respectively, while Inyengiyikabo and Forcados would feature in the 50m and 100m breaststroke.
According to Adokiye, NSF President Allwell Onyesoh will attendthe FINA congress while Navy Capt. Ola Lawal, will officiate at the championships.
Former NSF President Olatokunbo Thomas, now a FINA vice president, would be honored by the world swimming governing body. The secretary said Nigeria hoped to improve on its world rankings at the championships. Enditem
