The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Maccido, has said that his relationship with Governor Attahiru Bafarawa remains cordial.
The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Maccido, has said that his relationship with Governor Attahiru Bafarawa remains cordial.
Addressing newsmen on Sunday in his palace, Sultan Maccido called on the people spreading false information on his relationship with the governor to desist from what he referred to as "bad gossips".
On the recent sectarian crisis in Sokoto township, the Sultan stated that the sultanate, in conjunction with the state government, was working toward an amicable resolution.
His words: "Peaceful co-existence is a necessity. Nothing can be achieved without peace.
We therefore call on all the people of Sokoto to live in peace with one another and respect leaders in accordance with Islamic injunction."
He also appealed to parents and guardians to endeavour to call their children/wards to order and guide them to do the right things always.
