A 26-year-old man has appeared before a magistrate court in Ibadan, for being in possession of a human skull.
Sunday Afonye, who pleaded guilty to the two-count charge was, however, ordered to be remanded in prison custody by the Chief Magistrate, Mrs. A. Daniel.
The first count charge says the suspect was in possession of one human head, thereby committing an offence, contrary to and punishable under section 329(1) of the criminal code cap 30 (Vol II) Law of Oyo State of Nigeria.
In the second count charge, Afonye was also accused of being in possession of two stetoscopes and three fez caps, suspected to have been stolen.
The Oyo State Police Commissioner, Mr. Moses Anegbode, said the suspect was arrested along new Ife Road.
He disclosed that Afonye confessed to the police that he wanted to use the human head for ritual purposes.
Meanwhile, the case had been adjourned till August 10, 2003.
