LAUTECH shut over rapist alarm

The people of Ogbomoso, Oyo State are now living in constant fear following the alleged rape of some female students of Ladoke Akintola University, Ogbomoso by a strange man identified as Tombolo.

The people of Ogbomoso, Oyo State are now living in constant fear following the alleged rape of some female students of Ladoke Akintola University, Ogbomoso by a strange man identified as Tombolo.

The activities of the allegedly invisible man had led to the closure of LAUTECH while residents of the city, particularly female folks are now wary of coming out of their respective houses in the evenings.

But the university’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Yomi Akintunde, said the closure was just a routine mid-semester break given to the students to enable them prepare for the examinations.

But a police source in the city confirmed the story but declined to give the exact number of students that had fallen victim to the crime.

The source said since the activities of the man became public knowledge about three weeks ago, police had intensified efforts to arrest him.

The source said, “But nobody has been able to arrest the invisible man as he appears and disappears at will and nobody has also been able to give us the correct description of the man. However, we are still working hard to get the invisible man arrested, but if you want further details, you can go to the PPRO in Ibadan.”

But when our correspondent called the PPRO, Femi Adedeji, an assistant superintendent of police, he was not available for comments.

Residents of Ogbomoso and LAUTECH students disclosed that the man hypnotised his victims before having sexual intercourse with them.

It was also learnt that the students visited the palace of the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Jimoh Oyewumi last Thursday to protest what they called the community’s insensitivity to their plight.
